Urban planning assessment

The urban planning assessment was based on a new concept for traffic flow at Nollendorfplatz, made necessary by the abandonment of plans fort he so-called west tangent and its feeder streets. The desire of some property owners around Nollendorfplatz to build more densely necessitated an assessment for the Urban Planning Agency. This was clearly a chance to consider the square itself, on which four different layers of urban planning can be found, from 1868, 1902, 1926, and 1970. With minimal changes, the entire square should become more amenable to public use and reconnect the northern and southern halves. The two proposals share the incorporation of the original building line on the northwest and southeast corners to emphasize the square's margins as well as a change in the street layout so as to enlarge the center of the square.
