New construction of a single-family home including a separate rental apartment
The special quality of this house lies in the distribution of its public/open spaces and closed/protected areas in both the garden and the house itself. This narrow plot of land is located in the middle of a residential area, open to view from neighboring yards. The desire to make private, sheltered usage of the yard possible gave rise to the positioning and shape of the building structure, with its semi-enclosed courtyard, and to the extensive overhang of the house's garden-surfaced, low-angled shed roof, as well as to the spatial arrangement with the old oak and nut trees already present.
