Elementary School Scharnweberstraße

In direct proximity to the renowned Hertz Gymnasium oriented to natural sciences is located this school, which was retired from service in 2005. According to archives, the building was erected in 1907, presumably as a school for boys and girls.
For the most part, the building has remained in its origional condition.

Redesign and renovation measures are the prerequisites for the planned implementation of a two-track open all-day school (OGB) here with a focus on mathematic sciences.

The basis for all design considerations is the intention to render the school more transparent and make it more open and friendlier. At the same time, and also it already blends into the adjacent residential structures, it should still be recognizable as a public building and receive special characteristics appropriate to an elementary school. Thus, the necessity for reduction in energy consumption also provides the possibility to redo the main facades to the street and the courtyard. Not only the reorganization of the layout for rooms, but also minor but effective changes in the openings in the walls will enable us to achieve greater exterior transparency for the building.

The school will be operational again for 2010/11 school year, beginning with a first two-track grade which will be supplemented by additional two-track first grades year for year until the school provides all elementary grades.

The Dobra Manor

Dobra
Dobra

West of Craiova, in Romanian Wallachia, lies the community of Dobra, at the perimeter of the Danube marsh. The manor with its outbuilding is located on a 10 hectare estate at the edge of town. The entire ensemble is in dire need of renovation.

After restitution, the owners are now developing a new management and expansion with an upperclass hotel complex and have commissioned us with the planning and coordination of construction.

In the first phase of construction, the existing main house will be transformed into a guest house. All necessary efforts will be made to maintain the building in its substance and design. The ground floor will house working space, parlor, diningroom, bedrooms, and the kitchen; additional living space and bedrooms will be located in a portion of the attic floor that has already been finished.

The hotel will have forty rooms, a restaurant, swimming pool with sauna and massage facilities, as wll as further amenities to serve the comforts of the guests.
Blending into its surroundings with primarily one and two storey structures on plots with high fences, the hotel will be set back from the street in a large garden. The view from the planned restaurant, the terrace, and the raised pool will open out onto the untouched landscape along the Danube riverbed.

Renovation of Bröllin Palace under Landmark Preservation

Manor house, storage barn
Manor house, storage barn

The manor complex and connected settlement of Bröllin has a more than 800-year-old history. The former manor house, also called Bröllin Palace, and its numerous adjoining buildings surround a spacious interior courtyard in the center of which a large barn building stands.
This rare and unique courtyard ensemble in natural stone remains intact and has ben under landmark preservation since 1994. The complex is supplemented by the semidetached houses in the village originally erected by the manor owners, also in natural stone, and still inhabited today.

Since 1992, the non-profit organization Schloss Bröllin e.V. has been active in performing arts, education, and the arts as an international production, work, and instruction site in Bröllin.
In 2007, a German-Polish cultural exchange center was created. The stalls on the courtyard have already been redesigned into theater and dance studios, performance spaces, and seminar rooms.

We are planning a renovation of the manor house under landmark preservation criteria. A large lobby will be created along with a reception office for guests and a performance space with a terrace opening onto the park.
